Another Severe Weather Event Set to Unfold Across the South Tonight into Tomorrow

Another severe weather event is set to unfold across the Deep South tonight and tomorrow.

There is an enhanced (level 3 out of 5) risk for severe weather in place for both today and tomorrow. A mesoscale convective system (MCS) is expected to develop in northern Texas this evening and sweep east/east-southeast across Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and possibly northern Florida tonight through tomorrow.

It should be noted that high resolution model guidance/CAMS differ on the southern extent of the MCS as it progresses east/east-southeast tomorrow morning/afternoon. The NAM-3km keeps it generally along/north of I-10. However, the HRRR brings it will south of I-10, all the way down into the central Gulf Coast. This will be something to watch.

All severe hazards (tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail) will be possible. Heavy rain can also be expected with the MCS and any other storms that develop.

Be sure to have multiple ways to receive watches/warnings.
