Today’s Moderate (Level 4 out of 5) Risk Area for Severe Weather Expanded

The moderate (level 4 out of 5) risk for severe weather for today has been expanded. It now extends from southwest Louisiana into much of southern and central Mississippi and far western Alabama.

A regional severe weather/tornado outbreak now seems likely. Tornadoes, some strong (EF-2+), widespread damaging wind gusts (some 75+ mph), and large hail are expected.

An ongoing QLCS/squall line will shift east through the day. Development of discrete supercells will become possible ahead of the QLCS by late morning through the afternoon.
