Invest 98L Designated in Northern Gulf; Could Develop Before Moving Inland Tomorrow Morning

A small area of low pressure near the north-central Gulf Coast has been tagged Invest 98L by the National Hurricane Center.

There is a chance Invest 98L could briefly spin up into a tropical depression before moving into the Florida Panhandle tomorrow morning.

The National Hurricane Center has placed the chance of development at 20 percent over the next 2 days.

Should Invest 98L develop, it is unlikely it would have enough time over water to become a tropical storm.

Regardless of development, squally weather (locally heavy rain and gusty winds) can be expected from southwest Alabama through the Florida Panhandle tomorrow morning as Invest 98L comes ashore.

If Invest 98L does’t develop prior to moving into the Florida Panhandle tomorrow, it could have another opportunity for formation mid to late this week when it will emerge in the western Atlantic.
