Chance for Some Strong to Severe Storms Today

Strong to severe storms are going to be possible later today through late tonight/early tomorrow morning.

The Storm Prediction Center has defined a slight (level 2 out of 5) risk for severe weather for a portion of Texas and north/central Mississippi and Alabama.

Elsewhere, a marginal (level 1 out of 5) risk for severe weather is in place for a large part of Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama.

Not everyone will experience storms, with them being most likely across south Texas and north/central Mississippi and Alabama.

Coverage will be more isolated in south Texas. Timing looks to be the afternoon/evening.

Things are a bit more complicated for Mississippi and Alabama with respect to timing. Two rounds of storms are likely. The first will be this afternoon/evening, and the second late tonight into early tomorrow morning.

The primary threats will likely be damaging winds and hail. However, a tornado or two can’t be ruled out.
