BREAKING: Tropical Depression Eleven has Formed Near Texas Coast

Initial forecast track for Tropical Depression Eleven from the National Hurricane Center.

UPDATE (1 PM CDT) – TD-11 has strengthened to Tropical Storm Imelda.

Radar data, satellite data, and surface observations indicate that Invest 98-L has become organized enough to be upgraded to Tropical Depression Eleven (TD-11).

As of 12 PM CDT, TD-11 had maximum sustained winds of 35 mph, a minimum central pressure of 1009 mb, and was moving north at 7 mph.

TD-11 is forecast to become a tropical storm before landfall later today/tonight before moving inland near Freeport, TX.

TD-11 will bring extremely heavy rain and life-threatening southeast Texas, including the Houston and Galveston areas.
