Independence Day Forecast

Independence Day is Thursday. With outdoor activities (cookouts, fireworks displays etc.) planned, many people want to know if mother nature is going to “cooperate.”

As of now, the answer to that question is yes, generally speaking.

While some typical summertime pulse thunderstorms can be expected, no significant weather systems are set to impact Texas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama or Florida.

Also, the tropics are quiet, and should stay that way for the next 7 – 10 days. So nothing to worry about there.

However, it is going to be hot.

This is especially true for the Southeast, where high temperatures are likely to range from anywhere from the low/mid 90s to low 100s (see figure 1) with triple digit heat indices.
