Flood Threat From Harvey to Shift East

Everyone is currently focused on the flooding in Houston (which is understandable). However, both the heavy rainfall and flood threat will push further east, into the north/central Gulf Coast tomorrow, which is something that is being overlooked.

Southeast Texas/Southwest Louisiana: Harvey is going to continue to produce heavy rainfall across Southeast Texas and Southwest Louisiana through the end of this week, as the center of the storm is still forecast to drift across both regions through Thursday.

Additional rainfall accumulations between 15 – 20″ of  forecast through Thursday, which will worsen the ongoing catastrophic flooding, and cause additional flooding.

North/Central Gulf Coast: As Harvey drifts across Texas and Louisiana, a surge of tropical moisture on the Harvey’s east side will cause two to three rounds of heavy rainfall and storms from Southeast/South-central Louisiana to the Florida Panhandle tomorrow through at least the end of the week.

Rainfall accumulations between 4 – 10″ are forecast through Thursday; flash flooding will be possible.
