Brief Update on Franklin, Invest 99L

FRANKLIN: Tropical Storm Franklin has emerged over the Bay of Campeche. As of the 10pm CDT advisory, movement was to the west-northwest at 12mph, maximum sustained winds were 50mph, and the minimum central pressure was 996 millibars. Franklin is expected to intensify now up until landfall, with Franklin forecast to become a category 1 hurricane tomorrow before making landfall late tomorrow night or early Thursday between Veracruz, Mexico and Tampico, Mexico.

INVEST 99L: Invest 99L will still need to be monitored for development when gets it moves into the vicinity of the Bahamas this weekend, as environmental conditions are expected to be more conducive for development; the National Hurricane Center is now giving 99L a 40% chance of developing over the next five days. It is too early to know what impacts, if any, Invest 99L might have on the United States.
