Severe Storms Possible Across Parts of Texas This Afternoon, Tonight

Strong to severe storms will be possible across parts North/Central Texas late this afternoon and tonight.

Setup: A storm system will push Northeast across Northwestern Texas tonight, bringing a trailing cold front east across Texas.

Storms are expected to develop ahead of the front. And at this time, some supercells appear likely. However, a squall line is expected to develop ahead of the front as well.

Threat area: The greatest threat for severe weather will be in the slight risk (level 2) area, with a lower threat in the marginal risk (level 1) area.

Threats: All modes of severe weather (hail, damaging winds, tornadoes) will be possible with storms this afternoon and tonight, with the squall line having the greatest threat for producing damaging winds.
