More Gloomy Weather Mid-Week as Next Storm System Moves Through

Figure 1. Surface forecast for 6 PM CST Wednesday from the Weather Prediction Center.

A deepening upper-level trough will pivot out of the Plains mid to late Wednesday. On Wednesday night, the southern portion of the trough will close off, forming an upper low. An area of surface low pressure will also develop over Louisiana (see figure 1). All three of these features will shift east/northeast through the end of the week.

Similar to the previous storm system, this setup will bring a period of gloomy weather. Rain will be likely from east Texas to Florida. Accumulations will generally range from less than 0.25″ to 1.5″.

The upper low and surface low will move off to the northeast late Thursday into Friday, as the trough starts to lift out; this will allow cooler/drier air filter in after the passage of an associated front.
