Active Weather to end October?

A strong cold front is going to sweep across the Gulf Coast today; it will bring the first period of fall-like temperatures for some.

Looking ahead, it appears that we will going into an active weather pattern. Medium to long-range model guidance has latched on to a deep trough setting up across the Eastern half of the country late next week (see figure 1). If this comes to fruition, it would allow for below-average temperatures and a somewhat stormy end to the month.
